You hang out with your friends and accidentally separated from your friends. When you call them and try to find where they are, you find out you cannot fully understand each other in Mandarin. “Where are you? What? What’s ‘Túshū guǎn’? And you mean inside? or outside?” You go to a bookstore asking for someone help you with the book you cannot reach. “Hmm, left, left, left again. Oh, no, sorry, up there…” When someone asks you where do you live, how do you describe specifically? How to describe all this location in Mandarin Chinese?

This is a beginner Chinese 50-minute TutorMandarin lesson about the title, “Where do you live?” Beginner 1 level is for learners who cannot or speak a little bit of Chinese.       1. A: 你去中国旅行时要住在哪里? (Nǐ qù zhōngguó lǚxíng shí yào zhù zài nǎlǐ?)
Where will you stay when you travel to China?

B: 我订了饭店,在车站附近。 (Wǒ dìngle fàndiàn, zài chēzhàn fùjìn.)

I’ve ordered a hotel room, it’s near the station.

2. 我知道他昨天在图书馆待了一整天。 (Wǒ zhīdào tā zuótiān zài túshū guǎn dàile yī zhěng tiān.)
I know he stayed in the library whole day.

3. A: 你有看到我的手机吗? (Nǐ yǒu kàn dào wǒ de shǒujī ma?)

Have you seen my cellphone?
B: 有,在那里,桌子上面。 (Yǒu, zài nàlǐ, zhuōzi shàngmiàn.)

Yeah, over there, on the table.

4. 今天天气这么好,我们去海边玩儿吧!不要待在房间里面了!
(Jīntiān tiānqì zhème hǎo, wǒmen qù hǎibiān wán er ba! Bùyào dài zài fángjiān lǐmiànle!)

It’s a great weather out there today, let’s go to the beach! Don’t stay in the room!

5. 我站在大楼前面等你! (Wǒ zhàn zài dàlóu qiánmiàn děng nǐ!)

I am standing in front of the building waiting for you!
