Chinese alphabet for kids
Kids are excellent language learners! In fact, start them young enough and they can have perfect pronunciation and native-level fluency by the time they get older. So, how to get your kid started off learning Chinese?
The Chinese alphabet is called “pinyin.” It’s basically using the English alphabet to mimic all the sounds in the Chinese language. Look at the infographic below. This is the entire list of consonants/vowels/whole syllables (though we usually refer to them as initials and finals).
While these look familiar (it is English after all!) some of the pronunciations are slightly different. Hear them and repeat for yourself with this 5-minute youtube video.
Kids Pinyin Course
However, this is quite fast to learn the whole Chinese alphabet for kids. We offer a Kid’s Pinyin Course that teaches both Chinese pronunciation and tones together. The course only takes 6 lessons. Sign up today if you want to see it for yourself.
We offer some of the PDFs for free on our website, embedded here. Also attached is an example of one of our Chinese teachers teaching a Kids Pinyin lesson with our online virtual classroom. Come to see how easy it is!
